The game will be released on October 21, 2025.
Who is developing and publishing Bloodlines 2?
Bloodlines 2 is being developed by The Chinese Room and co-published by Paradox Interactive and White Wolf.
What is the game’s premise?
Bloodlines 2 lets players step into its story through two distinct, alternating perspectives: Elder vampire Phyre and Malkavian detective Fabien.
After centuries in torpor, Phyre wakes in modern-day Seattle with a strange mark that seals away their Elder powers. In the quiet of their mind, Fabien’s voice stirs. As Phyre, you will navigate the city’s web of Kindred politics, meet its rulers, uncover hidden agendas, and explore Seattle’s darkest secrets to reclaim the power that was once yours.
When daylight forces Phyre to rest, the dreams bring visions of Fabien’s past. You awaken as Fabien in 1920s Seattle, determined to solve the mystery of your own murder. Fabien’s Malkavian blood gives him unsettling insights but also fractures his perception of reality, blurring the line between truth and delusion.

Where does the game take place?
Bloodlines 2 takes place in Seattle's dark yet vibrant underbelly, where vampires struggle for survival and supremacy. While stalking the city streets, players will meet compelling characters, engage in intense combat, and satiate their need for blood, all while upholding the Masquerade, the absolute law of secrecy that vampire society keeps hidden from humanity.
Learn more about Seattle’s role in Bloodlines 2 in the developer diaries:
Is this an action game? What makes it an RPG game?
This is an action-RPG, which means it contains both action and role-playing elements, depending on your play style. You can read more about our process in the Dialogue Choice System Dev Diary.
As you fight your way through Seattle, there will be opportunities to try different play styles in different playthroughs, such as sneaking or charming your way through the city's Kindred.
Do your in-game choices and actions matter?
Yes. The relationships characters do or don’t make, and the actions they choose, will impact gameplay. Bloodlines 2 features a dozen different endings that are shaped by player choices.
Learn more about choices in the following developer diaries:
How will the dialogue options differ in each playthrough?
The dialogue options differ depending on which clan you've chosen and what choices you've made throughout the story. When hunting for Blood Resonance, specific disciplines and outfit choices can also affect NPCs on the street.
Can you customize the main character in Bloodlines 2?
Yes, you can choose the gender, clan, hairstyle, hair color, makeup, glasses, piercings, eye colour, and outfit.
For more information, see the following developer diaries:
Beyond clan and visuals, can players shape the main character’s background or personality?
Yes, you will answer questions during in-game conversations, which allow you to customize your character's background. This may affect your future interactions with some NPCs and sometimes give you unique dialogue options if the topic of discussion refers to your background.
Outside of that, the style of conversations will make other NPCs perceive you in a certain way. For example, if one character believes you to be unusually empathetic for Kindred, they may be surprised if you suddenly change the tone.
How linear is the game?
Bloodlines 2 tells two stories across our version of Seattle: Phyre’s in the present and Fabien’s in the 1920s and onward. Early on, you’ll need to follow a set path since Kindred won’t deal with you until you’re properly introduced. After that, you’re free to build relationships with the clan Primogens and take on optional tasks alongside the main story.
Does the game all happen during a single in-game night, and is there a time limit?
The main storyline occurs across several in-game nights, between which Phyre rests in haven. There is no time limit per night, so players can spend as much time as they need on exploration, Resonance hunting, and additional tasks.
When can I pre-order the game? Are there any pre-order bonuses or special editions available?
Pre-orders are now open! You can pre-order the game on Steam, Epic, GoG, PlayStation, Xbox and the Paradox store. Those who pre-order will receive the “Bloodlines Nostalgia Jukebox” Pre-Order Bonus, a Haven decor item featuring a curated playlist of in-game music by iconic composer of the original Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Rik Schaffer.
Will there be additional content available?
Yes. You will be able to purchase the “Santa Monica Memories” Cosmetic Pack, which features decor items inspired by the original cult classic Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines to adorn Phyre’s in-game apartment.
In addition, “Shadows & Silk” is a content add-on that enables players to choose the Lasombra or Toreador clans for Phyre. Each clan offers new, unique abilities, playstyles, and distinct outfits.
Both packs will be available at launch.
What are the different Bloodlines 2 editions, and what’s included?
There is the regular edition, deluxe edition, and premium edition. The deluxe edition includes the “Santa Monica Memories” Cosmetic Pack, and the premium edition includes both the “Santa Monica” Cosmetic Pack and the “Shadows & Silk” Clan Pack.
Is there a physical edition?
Yes, Bloodlines 2 will have a physical edition, created in collaboration with PLAION, which will be available for purchase at select retailers. Additional details about the physical edition, including its price and contents, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Is the main character named Phyre?
Yes and no. Your real name is never revealed; you use “Phyre” as an alias. Many characters you meet will also call you “The Nomad,” as you are an elder with a murky past.
What are the different playable vampire clans in Bloodlines 2?
Bloodlines 2 features four vampire clans, each with unique abilities and characteristics. Learn more about them in their respective developer diaries:
Two further playable clans (Lasombra and Toreador) will be available as additional content, and players will experience parts of the game’s narrative as Fabien, the mysterious Malkavian detective and voice inside Phyre’s mind.
Where can I find more gameplay footage?
We revealed the latest trailer at Gamescom 2025 during Opening Night Live, and from now until release, we’ll be sharing weekly videos with shorter updates instead of the previous Dev Diary schedule. Highlights include a livestream of the game’s opening on August 27, 2025, and the Voice Actor reveal on October 1, 2025.
If you missed earlier content, we shared an extended gameplay reveal in January 2024, followed by a trailer in October 2024. Game Informer also released a fresh look at the gameplay section from earlier footage.
You can also find plenty of shorter gameplay clips in our Dev Diaries. We especially recommend:
Why is there a voice in our head? Who is Fabien?
When you wake up from your centuries-long torpor, the voice inside your head is a confusing presence. Understanding who he is and why he’s in your head is part of the story. Together, you will solve a neo-noir murder mystery that threatens to alter modern Seattle’s vampire society.
Will the game be first-person or third-person view?
Bloodlines 2 is a first-person ARPG with cinematic cutscenes, dialogue, and some feeding animations in third-person view.
Will the game include guns?
You play as an elder who does not require mortal weapons, but that does not mean you can’t use your powers to disarm foes and fire their weapon using telekinesis.
Is there a way to use supernatural abilities in non-combat scenarios?
Yes, many abilities come in handy on the streets of Seattle. For example, Cloud Memory resets mortals to forget your previous transgressions if you've made a mistake and shown too much of your supernatural side. Cauldron of Blood will put a mortal into screaming agony, distracting everyone around them. Unseen Aura will allow you to perform vampiric actions without being seen by mortals, avoiding breaking the Masquerade.
The game also has three abilities that can be used while talking to mortals: Brujah's Taunt, Toreador's Beckon, and Lasombra's Glimpse of Oblivion. They all create a strong reaction from a mortal, either angering, seducing, or terrifying them. This also affects their Blood Resonance. These abilities can be paired with Mass Manipulation to affect the resonance (and behavior) of a whole group of mortals.
Will Rik Schafer return to write music for Bloodlines 2?
Yes, Rik Schaffer returns as a composer for Bloodlines 2! Rik joins exceptionally talented Craig Stuart Garfinkle and the internationally renowned Eímear Noone, who have created a haunting soundtrack that matches the game’s atmosphere. You can read all about it in the Dev Diary Music of Seattle.
While Craig and Eímear are the main composers, Rik's music is an integral part of the overall experience. Additionally, a jukebox of his collected songs will be available to those who pre-order the game.
