STOCKHOLM and DELFT, Netherlands – Nov. 11, 2025 – Paradox Interactive, a publisher and developer of games that will enthrall you, today launched Thrones of Blood, a new blood-drenched, vampire-centric DLC for Age of Wonders 4, the award-winning fantasy strategy game from Triumph Studios. Thrones of Blood adds a unique Vampire Ruler type to the game, alongside sanguine spells and creepy castles, allowing players to live out the dark, bloodthirsty fantasies of their own designs. Available today on PC, PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X|S, Thrones of Blood is the first major DLC available in Expansion Pass 3, which is also available now and will include two more DLC in 2026.

Thrones of Blood grants players new powers and options uniquely available to the Vampire Ruler type, including new skill trees filled with dark abilities, a Vampire’s Castle to take the place of the Wizard Tower, the power to transform heroes into vampiric servants, and Ritual Spells that harness Thralls as arcane fuel. Today also marks the launch of the Age of Wonders 4 “Gargoyle Update,” a free content and quality of life patch for all players. Key features include upgrades to tutorials and onboarding, new options for the Item Forge and Pantheon, and a comprehensive rework of the Dark Culture to focus on evil cults and their wicked ambitions. Thrones of Blood is the latest release within Age of Wonders 4: Expansion Pass 3, which takes players to the far reaches of the Astral Sea, where forsaken realms and forbidden powers await discovery. Alongside a minor DLC, Cosmic Wanderer, which includes a new premade Ruler character, new cosmetic options for costumes and items, new hero loadouts, and a new Society Trait, two other major DLC are included and will launch in 2026. Rise from Ruin, scheduled for release in Q1 2026, will add a new Culture to Age of Wonders 4: the Nomads, uniquely suited to survive and thrive in the devastated Withered Worlds present in this expansion alongside new tomes, environments, and wildlife. Secrets of the Archmages will launch in Q2 2026, and will explore the hidden arts and tales of Athla’s renowned Wizard Kings, and grant access to their tomes and realms.
